One Night in Maleka

Maleka is pretty much the Duluth of Malaysia. That can either be taken as an insult or a compliment. I think it’s a compliment but it’s also pretty much the definition of the ineffable expression, “It is what it is.”

Maleka is a funny little place. We spent one night there. There was a canal that runs through the middle of town that we walked along quite a bit. Improbably there’s a Hard Rock Cafe but it seems like such an odd place for one that I assumed it was fake until I looked it up on the Hard Rock Cafe website. [Related Note: you’re reading something written by someone who’s actually visited the Hard Rock Cafe website.]

We ate incredible Indian food; visited a seriously weird and fascinating (and a little bit depressing) maritime museum; and then we were gone. Of to Kuala Lumpur.

We were there for one night. It was Maleka.
